What’s the hiring process for translators?

AW PTS has strict recruitment and testing procedures in place to ensure that you will only ever have the very best linguists working on the projects.

Step 1:

Pre-Selection phase

This process entails proactively assessing the need for additional linguists to handle all internal translation assignments, looking through specialized databases and gathering preliminary data on possible applicants.

Step 2:

Selection phase

An agreement and test are delivered to the translators and reviewers once we have developed a shortlist of translators who strategically fit our needs in terms of experience, language pairings, competitive pricing etc. The following scale is used to grade the selection test:
Not Acceptable, Bad, Fair, Good, Good+, Very Good and Excellent.
Memoranda are sent to the contracted applicants once they sign the agreement.

Step 3:

Post Selection phase

Successful candidates with associated language pairs and domains of expertise are added to Suppliers List to be used by Project Managers for real assignments. After the first few projects, deliveries are analyzed with the same level of expectation as the initial test. The trial period spans over three months and the translators and reviewers are added to our Suppliers List as new status for one year.

Step 4:

On-going evaluation of fully approved translators

After achieving “Old status,” translators are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Evaluations of their work are conducted on a regular basis, regardless of their duration of operation and experience with us. An extraordinary rating is triggered by unfavorable client feedback or poor performance on any translation checks carried out by AW PTS.
